ANGIE PORTER

About ME

Angie Porter began her music career at eight years old where she started in a cabaret act with her family. She attended the Corona Academy Stage School and by age nine sang on her first record with Lynsey De Paul and Barry Blue. At eleven she cut a record with Pete Townsend on the Stiff label (Peppermint Lump) which made Radio One’s record of the week with Andy Peebles. The record also did very well in America and a favourite of Rodney Bingenheimer’s radio show KROQ on Capital Radio (Rodney on the Roq).

A year later Angie was recording backing vocals working with Trevor horn on ‘Video Killed the Radio Star’ and the flip side of the record ‘Kid Dynamo’. Her work did not stop there, she acted in numerous radio plays, sang on many jingles and voice-overs and was an extra in many films and television programs.

By seventeen Angie joined her Sister’s covers band, they toured in Germany and Austria performing at RAF bases, she then started a covers duo working both home and abroad including the infamous 10 day runs in the north east at working men’s clubs. Whilst performing in a bar in Tenerife, Angie received a phone call offering her a chance to record a single with Peer Southern Publishing. When she returned to England Angie went to see Producer Barry Andrews and started working with John Springate (bass player of the Glitter band) she released a single S.O.S in 1987 on the Passion label and recorded a few more tracks before deciding to move on as she wanted to write her own songs.

In 1997 Angie moved back to London joining a pop dance band called ‘Burnt Out Stable Girl’ They performed a couple of showcases, recorded a demo with EMI and featured in Future Music magazine. They produced many a great tune including a cover of ‘I’m In Love With A German Filmstar' which was welcomed by the Passions themselves as being their favourite version. BOSG also collaborated with dance producer Jeremy Sylvester (Urban Dubz) with tracks such as its ‘Not Right’ and ‘I Wander’. Angie went on to work with writer/producer Bruce Wolley and recorded backing vocals on the bid track for the New Avengers movie.

Angie began writing her own songs over a period of ten years and decided it was time to record them, which is when she discovered Café Music Studios in Bow London. After recording an album’s worth of material acoustically, producer Mark Sutherland introduced her to producer/arranger Simon Zarych (Motorheart Productions). Since then Angie recorded and released her debut album ‘Shine’ in 2014 an eclectic mix of styles.

After forming a band with local musicians, playing live shows around London, Angie made her TV debut as a music guest on London Live in 2017 promoting her single ‘The Paradise Road’ she also composed the music and melodies for two rock songs ‘Dark Falls The Night’ and ‘Hungry Moon’ for a film soundtrack ‘The Hairy Claw of Grafton Moor’ a dark animation movie set in medieval and present times working with artist and lyricist Ralph Shepherd and musician/producer Victor G Penniman.

In 2018 Angie entered a song 'We're here' for Songs of War competition in aid of War Child UK which was shortlisted out of 500 entries.

The next single release in 2019 ‘Under my Skin’ a dark and eerie song inspired by the book ‘Under the Skin’ by Michael Faber and the lyric video inspired by David Lynch movies is a ‘Marvel’ style comic production.

Angie collaborates with many producers worldwide on separate projects and one of many singles soon to be released is a collaboration with Anthony ‘Dat’ Dent. This track oozes with nostalgia of old school funky disco and Angie plans to promote it in the USA.

The most recent collaboration is with platinum award winning friend and producer Simon Henderson. They both went to Corona stage school and after 30+ years they decided to get together and have created a track called ‘Your Wasted Time’ which takes you on a cosmic journey of self discovery and self love from within.
